Now that the teachers and staff were almost done setting things up, the students quieted down. They all turned to face the front stage where there was a massive two-meter-tall crystal ball surrounded by five pillars holding different runic crystals. These pillars had pipes leading to the crystal ball.
Finally, one of the staff members stepped forward, clearing their throat, and said, "Thank you for your patience. We will now be commencing the stat analysis. When you hear your name, please walk up to the crystal ball to get tested."
With that, the staff member called up the first student. They were a young, fairly average-looking guy. He walked up the stairs leading to the crystal ball.
Once he was in front of it, the staff member said, "Place your hand against the crystal ball and pour some of your energy into it."
The young man did as he was told to and inserted some of his power into the crystal ball. As soon as he did that, the crystal ball started to glow lightly. Off to the side, an instructor was holding a crystal tablet. The tablet was slowly displaying information from the crystal ball. At the same time, a screen appeared above the crystal ball, showing the same information. The instructor read the information out loud as it appeared.
[Name] Simon Mason
[Rank] Silver
[Power] 148
[Elemental proficiency] Earth
The student seemed happy seeing his power score. He hadn't gotten it tested since he ranked up.
A staff member approached the student and guided him off the stage towards some tables where instructors were waiting. The student sat down at one of the tables with an instructor and they began discussing what the student wanted to learn at the academy. This was to help him set up his schedule and the classes he would have to take.
Now that all of the students had seen what to do, they all readied themselves for their turn. One by one, each student was called up. They all did the same, pouring a small amount of their energy into the crystal ball to see their stats. Afterwards, they would go to an available table to talk with an instructor. However, after a while, there were no available tables so the students started to line up at each table.
Most of the students who've gone up to get their stats checked were silver-ranked with a few copper ranks here and there. Their powers ranged between 100 to 300 for the silver ranked, with a few going slightly above that. As for the copper ranks, their power ranged between 25 to 90 with only one person going above 100.
Slowly the number of students waiting to go up decreased. There were over 300 students to begin with. After almost two hours, that number had dropped to less than 100.
At this point, the instructors and staff members seem disappointed at the lack of gold-ranked individuals. Usually, there would be one or two by now, but none have shown up.
It wasn't until one of the noble sons, Gavin, was called up. Upon hearing his name, he stood up from the bench he was sitting at, towering above all. He walked up to the crystal ball with a sense of superiority. He knew he was better and he didn't need to show it off. Everyone could tell by just looking at him.
When he came before the crystal ball, he did as everyone before him did and placed his hand on the crystal ball, pouring a bit of his energy into it. Just like before the crystal ball began to glow but this time it was brighter.
Above it, the screen started to display his information. Gavin looked at it intently, wanting to see how far he's come.
[Name] Gavin Greystone
[Rank] Gold
[Power] 610
[Elemental Proficiency] Earth
Gavin's lips curled slightly upon seeing his power score. He knew it was high. His years of personal training had paid off.
When the Instructor read off Gavin's information, everyone turned to look at the screen in awe. Even some of the instructors and staff members were intrigued. They all looked at him with shocked expressions. The only ones that didn't look impressed were Leonardo, Kai, and Amanda.
After Gavin had his moment with everyone looking at him, he walked away from the crystal ball and lined up at one of the tables.
Everyone still seemed shocked by what they had seen but it wasn't over. As soon as Gavin left the stage, Kai was called up next. Just like Gavin, he walked up to the crystal ball radiating superiority while still looking moody.
When he came before the crystal ball, he placed his hand on its surface and inserted some of his energy into it. Same as with Gavin, the crystal ball began to glow brighter as the screen showed his information.
[Name] Kai Silverveil
[Rank] Gold
[Power] 662
[Elemental Proficiency] Wind
Once Again, the room was left shocked. They were not expecting to see another gold-rank so soon if at all. But what was more surprising was that this gold-rank was stronger. Even the instructors were surprised to see this. Most gold ranks they've seen had a power score between 500 to 600. And yet, these two were already above that.
Kai looked at his score and seemed disappointed. He had expected it to be much higher but he was still happy to be above Gavin. After seeing his information, he quickly got off the stage and lined up at a table.
Everyone took a moment to talk among themselves to process what they'd just witnessed. Even the instructor calling the students' names took a moment to process what they saw. Once they were done, they looked at the list on their clipboard to see who was next. It was Leonardo. They looked up at the remaining students and called out Leonardo's name.
Hearing his name, Leonardo began to walk towards the stage. However, unlike Gavin and Kai, he did not give off a sense of superiority. Instead, he radiated a sense of pride and confidence. He stepped in front of the crystal ball and gently placed his hand on it.
He poured some of his energy into the crystal ball as he looked up at the screen, not a single ounce of worry on his face. Soon the screen started to display his information.
[Name] Leonardo Goldo Radiance
[Rank] Gold
[Power] 736
[Elemental Proficiency] Light
The room went quiet upon hearing Leonardo's information. Yet again, another gold rank. However, he was much stronger than Kai and Gavin. Not only that, he was the strongest first-year gold rank and the instructors knew that.
Even though a score of 700 was middle class for gold rank, it was still impressive. Leonardo was only 18 years old and he had reached a level that would take most people years to acquire. Normally, an average person would reach middle-class gold rank by their late 20s to mid 30s.
Leonardo stood proud seeing his stats. He turned to look at Amanda, hoping that his stats would impress her.
Amanda was indeed impressed, but not to the same extent as nearly everyone else. She only raised her eyebrows at the sight of the stats. Meanwhile, most of the other students were left with their eyes wide open, and their mouths ajar.
Most of the students, especially the boys, started to feel inadequate and doubted their abilities. They couldn't compete with the three noble sons.
After Leonardo got off the stage and lined up at a table, the instructor began to call up the other students. Soon, Darren was called up.
He had a cocky look on his face even though he just saw Leonardo's stats. It's like he thought he could reach Leonardo's level with minimal struggle. He confidently walked up to the crystal ball and placed his hand on it, pouring his energy into it. He looked up at the screen above him, grinning smugly.
[Name] Darren Magnum
[Rank] Silver
[Power] 412
[Elemental Proficiency] Earth, Wind, Water
At first, the students didn't seem impressed by Darren. Once they saw his power score, they were surprised. He was the strongest silver rank yet. No silver rank had surpassed a power score of 360, and yet, he did. But what surprised them even more was his triple elemental proficiency. Such an occurrence was very rare.
It was common for most people to have one elemental proficiency. It was a bit rare for an individual to have two elemental proficiency. But to have three, was so much rarer. There was nearly a 1 in 1,000 chance for someone to have three elemental proficiencies. Darren was one of the lucky few.
Seeing everyone look at his stats, Darren smugly began to walk off the stage. He may have not been a gold rank but he still shined like one.
After he got off the stage, his group of friends started getting called up. None of them were particularly impressive. They were all silver rank with their power scores in the 200s.
Once they were done going up, a few other students went up before it was finally Ian and his group's turn. The first one to get called up was Emmett. He wasn't expecting his stats to be high but he still wanted to see how far he's gotten. He inserted some of his energy in the sphere and waited to see his stats.
[Name] Emmett Crest
[Rank] silver
[Power] 293
[Elemental Proficiency] Earth
Emmett's eyes opened widely when he saw his power score. He knew he had gotten stronger since the last time he got tested but he wasn't expecting this. He thought his power was between 240 and 250. But he was happy to see he was wrong.
A lot of the students were disappointed to see his stats. They thought he would be stronger since he was the son of Erik. Even so, he was still above average.
Following Emmett's turn, Zoey went up to check her stats. She wasn't expecting much since she didn't train like the others and was right.
[Name] Zoey Butcher
[Rank] Silver
[Power] 111
[Elemental Proficiency] Fire
Zoey's power score was the lowest of all the silver ranks. She was barely a silver rank. However, this made sense for her. She wasn't a fighter like the others. She was a cook. She had only ever used her abilities to help her dad in the restaurant which meant her powers weren't strong enough to fight with.
Zoey didn't seem surprised by her stats, but she was still disappointed in herself. She sheepishly walked off the stage and headed towards Emmett so she could bury her face into his shirt. Ellie and Amanda found this cute and chuckled lightly. However, it was cut short as Ellie was called up next.
Ellie flinched upon hearing her name, not expecting to be called yet. But she quickly composed herself and made her way to the crystal ball. She was a bit nervous since she knew she was still copper rank and wasn't very strong. However, she knew she had improved since the last time she tested herself around her birthday, months ago. She was hoping to have improved a bit but she wasn't expecting what she saw.
The screen above her slowly began to display her information, line by line. At the same time, the instructor near her read out the info.
[Name] Ellie Crest
[Rank] Copper
[Power] 93
[Elemental Proficiency] Water
Ellie's eyes widened when she saw that she had nearly doubled her power. When she first got it checked, it was only 49. Now, it was 93. Ellie couldn't help but smile at her improvement, her face lighting up with joy. She quickly turned to Amanda and the others, only to see them give her a thumbs up. Seeing this, she happily walked off the stage and lined up at a table.
Kevin was extremely happy for Ellie and wanted to congratulate her, but he knew he was going to get called up next. He had figured that everyone was getting called up based on when they arrived at the academy. His guess was soon proven right when the instructor called his name.
Kevin turned to Ian, knowing he would get called up next, and said, "Well, this is it. I'll see you on the other side."
"Hurry up. We don't have all day," Ian said as he waved for Kevin to go.
Kevin didn't argue with Ian and began to make his way to the crystal ball. Kevin could care less about what others truly thought about him. He only cared about his playful rivalry with Ian and Emmett. Besides that, he didn't care what his stats were.
He placed his hand on the crystal ball just like everyone else, pouring some of his energy into it. He stared at the screen above him waiting to see his info.
[Name] Kevin Willow
[Rank] Silver
[Power] 291
[Elemental Proficiency] Wind
Kevin wasn't surprised by his information. He knew he was around Emmett's level, he just didn't know if he was stronger or not. Even though Emmett was a tiny bit stronger, that didn't matter. If he had to fight Emmett, he knew he could beat him again.
Kevin turned his head to Emmett. He gestured at him saying he would take him down. He then turned to Ian and gave him a thumbs up for good luck. Stepping off the stage, Kevin got in the line next to Emmett before turning to see Ian's turn.
