Mauve nodded as she looked at Jael's face. It was hard to tell if she had said something she shouldn't have.
"He told you about that?"
"Well, just the circumstances surrounding their deaths. He said he couldn't remember the details," she responded.
"I see," Jael said and pulled back.
Mauve frowned a little. She didn't know what she thought his reaction would be, but this wasn't it. She wanted to divulge more but knew it would be a bad idea.
"Did you know about it?" She asked.
"Yeah," he said. "Just never heard anything about their deaths from him."
"Oh," Mauve didn't know how to respond to this. It certainly explained why Louis was quick to leave as soon as Jael walked in.
"Do you remember anything about it?" She asked.
"Clearly," he replied. "He was a sobbing mess when Mother brought him home. He wouldn't eat for days, and I literally had to drag him out of his room for him to finally start eating again. It was a pretty sad period in the household."
