For people living on the surface, it's a peaceful and harmonious night; couples flock to the streets, listening to Christmas carols and taking photos with Christmas trees. Meanwhile, in brightly lit homes, parents and children gather together to enjoy happy family time.
But while people relish the peace and joy, deep underground, a bloody and brutal war unfolds.
The ultimate battle between humans and ghouls.
For the ghouls, they have no place left to retreat. Ward 24 is the last sanctuary for the ghouls; losing it means their complete extermination—a goal of the Countermeasure Bureau.
That is to eliminate the ghouls at all costs.
If it were on the surface, the ghouls might be able to use the vast space to maneuver against humans. But in the narrow underground tunnels, they no longer can. Thus, the method of battle is straightforward—when paths cross, the bravest prevail.
