To be honest, Duanmu Huai did not feel any surprise when he faced the enemy called the Demon Clan. With his experience, anything referred to as "Demon Clan," if not slandered due to political reasons, was invariably related to the Subspace Demons.
Just like those Beastmen Duanmu Huai encountered in Novice's Village, they were originally humans, but they mutated into unrecognizable beings due to the influence of the Wind of Magic and the Chaos Aura at birth, becoming a sandwiched existence between humans and Demons.
To Duanmu Huai, these demon races were similar to the Beastmen, their mutated long horns were proof of that. Plus, the filthy, chaotic, evil aura of subspace that emanated from them, as well as the malicious psychic powers… clearly, the Demon Clan in this world must be distant relatives of the Beastmen.
As for their origins… well, it's not impossible to guess.
If they believed in Brutal Wrath, they would have started fighting without a second word.
