The door to the room slowly opened.
Legarde tilted his head just enough to see Cain calmly walk out of the room.
Exhaling deeply, Cain said calmly,
"It's done."
Legarde nodded,
"Good. Mira should be waiting for us at the—"
BOOM!
A thunderous shockwave crashed into them.
The walls shook, cracks stretching from floor to ceiling terrifyingly quick.
The ground rumbled. The window planes shattered into a fine powder. The roof caved in.
Both of them swatted away the falling debris as crimson moonlight washed over them.
Legarde's face paled as he looked up.
"Oh no."
Cain felt a terrible premonition wash over him.
He looked up as well.
Shards of fire slowly rained down from above as what was left of the barrier crumpled into pieces.
Cain cursed internally.
They weren't ready yet.
Something caught his attention. A small patch of black in the sky.
With his enhanced senses and vision, he was able to see minute details from kilometers away.
His eyes narrowed.
