The soles of his boots scraping the floor, Cain limped out of the building.
His face was lit up by the crimson light.
He looked up just in time to see it...
A burning streak falling from the sky.
With a thud, it smacked into the ground.
Alongside all the other human corpses.
Gritting his teeth, Cain slowly limsoed over, coming to a stop right above the body that had fallen from the sky.
His eyes widened.
Legarde was in terrible shape. The chest piece was twisted like scrap metal. Looking in, Cain could see pieces of his organs hanging out of the broken metal, some parts in various stages of decay.
"Damn. Well, this is embarrassing, isn't it?"
Hearing Legarde speak in such a weak voice, Cain had no idea what to feel.
He sighed and knelt down into the puddle of blood and mud. He gripped the old warrior's hand tight,
"Do you still have some fight in you?"
Legarde chuckled and shook his head,
"I'm done. This is where I go out, kid."
