"What?" Boss Howell was furious. "He knew nothing?!"
Howell sent Greg and Zachary to extort information about Erik from the old man he worked for. Still, he knew nothing and also put up some resistance, so they had to kill him.
"It's not our fault, boss!"
"Yeah, we even tortured him! But he said nothing," Zachary added to the litany.
Howell sighed. Then his face turned serious.
"We can get someone else… Someone who might know more…" Greg said. "He has many friends. We might kidnap some of them! If the old man knew nothing, their friends probably will!"
Howell glanced at Zachary. Though Greg nodded along, Howell knew Greg didn't enjoy targeting children, so how much he would go along with Zachary's suggestion was unknown.
The two could tell by the way Howell kept looking at them that their failure would be met with punishment.
Howell was already mad because they found nothing on Erik's computer, and this new failure only intensified his rage.
