"Are you telling the truth right now?" Amber asked.
"Yes, he gave me a USB key," he said into her ears.
"I didn't check it, since I want nothing to do with it, but I know how he looked at me when he said what the USB had."
He paused. "He was serious, in a way I had never seen him be."
For sure, he was serious, but it was just that the scale of what his father found out was much bigger than simply knowing who the Crystal Cross Gang's leader was.
"Besides, I didn't even have time to check said content since… an... accident... occurred and I destroyed the USB key," Erik said.
Amber grabbed him to put some distance.
"You did what?"
What Erik said was a sort of twisted version of what went on that day. It was just that thing; it was the glass containing the sleeping biological supercomputer and not a USB key.
Amber could barely repress her urge to punch Erik in the face. Though she calmed down, she still had questions to ask.
