Arad's eyes burned with a golden flash, then his whole body started turning pinkish, and then into a dark-red color as veins bulged and pulsed with each heartbeat. Tiny spikes grew on his back and forearms, no bigger than a grain of rice, and his eyes burned with a horrifying, crimson flame of pure bloodlust and hunger.
He took a deep breath and roared forward with steam gushing out of his throat. The roar of a hungry beast sounded more like a really loud burp than a scream, and the wolves felt it vibrating in their chests.
The wolves backed away while the two Alphas stared at Arad with a cautious look. They had never seen such an animal around the peaceful Emerald Plains. They couldn't understand why he was attacking their pack or what he wanted, but since he had already killed some of their children, he had to die.
