Joel paled and babbled, "I'm not lying, Mr. Campbell! I swear to God I'm telling the truth! I really couldn't reach my son!"
"Let him go, Tony," Jacob ordered.
The old man's fear was proof enough of his honesty.
Tony released Joel, much to the latter's relief. Joel asked cautiously, "Mr. Sullen, Mr. Campbell, what has my foolish son done to offend you both this time?"
"Kyle provoked us and the McMillans by kidnapping Ms. Stefanie McMillan!" Tony spat.
Joel almost fell from shock.
He sputtered furiously, "T-This fool! How dare he kidnap Ms. McMillan?"
Jacob and Stefanie's relationship was public news at this point, and Kyle's actions were hardly that of a clueless man. The McMillans were the wealthiest family in Pentagon, and they maintained a tense but civil relationship with the Andersons. If Kyle had masterminded Stefanie's kidnapping, the McMillan family would have no qualms about using their massive wealth to ruin the Anderson family.
