Kaz was taken aback by the animosity Iris displayed. She didn't say anything earlier and he thought that, because she couldn't understand the conversation or because of her soft nature, she rarely spoke up.
However, seeing how she was seething right now made Kaz flinch. For a moment, he was afraid of her.
