"Here you go," the staff member said, handing him the neatly wrapped box. "Have a wonderful day!"
"Thanks," Allen said, slipping the package into his jacket pocket before heading back outside. The cool air hit him as he stepped onto the sidewalk, and he glanced at the clock on his phone again. Still plenty of time. Too much, really.
He considered his options for a moment before a thought struck him. There was a coffee shop near Zoe's university—a quiet little spot he'd stumbled across before. Perfect place to kill some time and maybe get some work done. His lips twitched into a small smirk as he climbed back onto his bike. "Why not?"
The coffee shop was exactly as he remembered it: cozy, with soft lighting and a faint aroma of roasted beans lingering in the air. The hum of conversation filled the space, but it wasn't loud enough to be distracting. Allen ordered a black coffee—no sugar, no nonsense—and found a corner table near the window.
