Jane hesitated.
And that hesitation almost cost her— The mutant ripped free, moving faster than it should. But before it could reach her— Zoe's tentacles wrapped around its throat.
Her expression was tight, her lips pressed into a thin line. "This is so messed up."
The third mutant shrieked—a thin, withered thing, its body stitched together in places where it shouldn't be. It trembled, arms reaching for Bella.
"…Please… I don't want to fight…"
Bella snarled, a Fireball forming in her palm. "Then stay dead."
The flames engulfed it.
The battle was short, brutal, and left a bad taste in their mouths.
When the last mutant collapsed, the silence that followed was suffocating.
