Chapter 63: Funeral (I)
Francisca's POV
I don't know how long I stayed in the forest with Cerberus.
Long enough for the rain to stop and enough for the monsters to stop coming.
"Hic."
My tears finally run dry.
The forest had grown quiet.
Only the crackling of a small campfire broke the silence.
"Arf." One of Cerberus' heads leaned forward and breathed a steady stream of fire into the pile of wood, keeping our only source of light alive.
Night had completely settled over the forest.
The sky was dark and the stars hidden behind lingering clouds.
And despite everything… I didn't feel like going home.
I stared at my hands.
They were covered in dried blood.
Monster blood.
Not mine. I've been killing monsters for hours now, to relieve my pent up stress. That demon that killed jiejie has been on my mind and I've been imagining these monsters as his face.
Yet somehow it still made me feel sick.
"...Someone must have noticed that I'm gone."
I let out a weak laugh.
