"Is there anything else I can want? Or even think about wanting?" Seraphina asked in return as she stared right into Arwan's emerald eyes. "I'm already dead, and existing here on borrowed time. I'm no longer the Seraphina Winters of the Mortal world who had the entire world in her control. Here, I'm nothing more than a pawn in the game that the council and the four of you are playing."
"We are playing no game with you, Sera." Kethan spoke immediately, his tone hard as he stared at her with a serious look on his face.
"Or so you say." She replied with a faint smile that didn't reach her eyes.
"You are my mate."
Arwan's voice was barely above a whisper. Yet, the pain in his voice was clearly heard by her. She didn't wish to see him like this. She never wanted to hurt him by disclosing her deal with the council, but it might be the best thing to do. It was better to let him know of the consequences from the very start and stop him before he coukd get too involved with her.
