The small Eight Trigrams Chessboard shot out two tractor beams that brought both players into the fray, and Dorothy could distinctly feel a drawing force tugging at her.
Though the force was not strong, and she could have easily shaken it off had she wanted to, there really was no need to do so.
Once everyone stopped resisting, the players illuminated by the tractor beams rapidly shrank and were absorbed into the chessboard, which was actually no bigger than a tabletop.
Afterward, those who remained in the outside world saw the landscape within the chessboard dramatically shift and tremble, revealing a complex war map.
The map was octagonal, with bases of both sides located on the east and west edges, respectively. The contestants who had been drawn into the board were now waiting in these bases.
