There were lines in friendship that shouldn't have been crossed and Zakhar's intervention was their chance to see to it that none was crossed with Gabriel Grealor. The man had been kind to them and loyal despite everything they were all going through.
The fact that Ciel thought this was the right way out of this was just insane because no amount of conceiving would ever make it any better.
They had to be rational despite the challenges they were facing at the moment, no one was coming to save them and if they broke the one link that they had to the Grealors, then they would be fucked.
