CHAPTER 96: CUTE GRANDMA
"I know my grandson is not the easiest person to deal with," Suzanne started, "and if he gives you any problems, you should not fail or forget to report it to me," she added in her most stern voice.
Diana giggled, thinking how cute the old woman looked. "Yes, Grandma, I will," she responded as Suzanne smiled.
Suzanne released her hands and relaxed back in her chair. "So, how long has it been?"
Diana looked at her, confused. Suzanne smiled and nodded towards her stomach. "Oh," Diana smiled. "It's been six weeks."
"Okay, that's quite a while," Suzanne commented dryly, and both women laughed.
Twenty minutes into their discussion, Nicodemus brought in dinner, followed by James. As soon as Diana saw her husband, she stood up and walked over to him. His face looked tired and strained, as if he had just finished an extremely heavy task.
Diana eyed him up and down before finally asking, "What happened to you?"
James looked her over to make sure she was alright before sighing. He walked towards the sofa, ignoring her question. Turning to his grandma, he said, "Good evening, Granny."
"Evening, son. How are you?"
"I'm good, Ma."
"Well, you sure look like what the cat dragged in. What the hell happened to you?"
"Nothing, Ma. I'm fine," James responded gruffly.
Diana turned away and went to sit down, choosing a spot farther away from him. He couldn't still be angry about this morning, right? she thought to herself.
James looked at Nicodemus. "Is her medicine here?"
"Yes, sir, I brought it along with me," Nicodemus replied.
Diana rolled her eyes and swallowed. With the help of the maids, the food was served at the dining table. The trio walked over and sat down, Suzanne at the head of the table, and the couple on opposite sides of her. Nicodemus stood at a corner, watching with the maids.
