Gu Lanshan ran even faster, accidentally losing her slippers along the way. She didn't bother to put her shoes back on and just ran barefoot on the cobblestone road, chasing after Sheng Shi's car.
Sheng Shi, looking through the rearview mirror, saw Gu Lanshan in this state and muttered a curse under his breath before quickly hitting the brakes.
Gu Lanshan, holding a gift box, ran up to the car and breathlessly raised her hand to knock on the window.
Sheng Shi lowered the window.
Gu Lanshan felt a surge of nervous tension well up inside her. She bit her lower lip, thinking about how to begin.
Sheng Shi gazed deeply at Gu Lanshan and spoke first, "What is it?"
Gu Lanshan reflexively nodded, her face involuntarily flushed red, and she awkwardly began, "Well... I..."
Gu Lanshan spoke in fits and starts. Sheng Shi, however, did not show impatience but simply sat in the car, eyes fixed on her, his gaze no longer cold but much softer.
