Erix read the whole of it through his amber eyes and understood, as he always did, that trading time with a stronger enemy was a losing game. They needed to end this, and they needed the one window they had.
"On my mark," he called over the rush and crash of the flooded chamber. "Everything we have, all at once, the way we took the Cardinals. Tenebria, freeze him. Aria, hold your light, I am going to need every drop of it. Korin, when he strikes next, take it and give it back. Rin, with me. We go for the crown."
They fought their way into position through the churning water, and Erix carved the space with his hunting pack of amber blades, marking the King whole, a dozen amber eyes locking the vast drowned figure so that nothing it did escaped his sight. The King raised both great hands, the black water climbing with them into a wave that towered over the whole chamber, a flood meant to bury the eleven of them at once.
"Korin, now!"
