When Xia Mengrui arrived at the training camp, her dorm room was empty.
Xia Lihua's belongings were in their usual places, but there was no sign of her.
Xia Mengrui glanced around the room, her eyes landing on Xia Lihua's meticulously organized desk and neatly made bed.
"Did she already go to the recording venue for the live interview?" She checked her wristwatch and noted that while she was not running late, the live interview was set to start soon.
She had intended to arrive earlier, but last-minute attempts to secure a new sponsor had delayed her. The director had allowed her to appear for the live interview today, but the ultimatum was clear: if she failed to secure a new sponsor, she wouldn't be in future episodes.
"I was in fourth place in the last ranking. Why doesn't anyone want to sponsor me?" She was stressed out, and to calm herself, Xia Mengrui grabbed a new water bottle from her desk and drank nearly all of it in one go.
