Bell Collins thought Edward Anderson had been hit again and pulled him over for a check. It was Bruno who explained that Bella Scott didn't actually hit anybody.
"Bella isn't a shallow woman, hitting me would only dirty her hands."
When Edward mentioned Bella, his voice was gentle and affectionate, even his gaze softened a bit.
Bell Collins responded with a muffled sound.
He had come all the way to the hall with great fanfare, knowing full well that he might get beaten, yet he was still excited to come. When he arrived, he only looked at Bella once but willingly left.
When he mentioned Bella, it was as if he was calling his beloved woman, but his smile was insincere, as if joking, and his eyes were filled with tender warmth.
At this moment, she suddenly felt that loving such a fickle, complicated man was exhausting because you always have to guess his heart and whether his words are true or false.
