The nurse didn't make Jiang Yi wait too long before returning to her with a professional smile.
"How is it? Can we go ahead?" asked Jiang Yi.
The nurse nodded lightly: "The doctor said it's okay, but we still need you to leave a relative's phone number for emergency contact purposes."
Jiang Yi almost didn't even think about it and blurted out a made-up number on the spot.
In front of the operating room sat a girl about the same age as Jiang Yi, all by herself.
With her head lowered, the girl stared at her own shoe tips, her face terrifyingly pale.
Jiang Yi walked over and sat next to her; the girl then finally raised her head.
The two exchanged a glance, instinctively understanding each other without having to speak, and shifted their gazes away.
Soon, a nurse came out of the operating room and said to the girl beside Jiang Yi: "Have you made up your mind? Has your boyfriend brought you the money?"
The girl shook her head, her head hanging even lower, biting her lip hard.
