The ticking of a clock placed on the call of the small gray room, with a black see-through window on the other end. A table with two chairs, as a young man sat in one of them.
Tick, Tock,
A young boy looks at the clock ticking away, as dirt and grime from living on the streets for a couple of weeks caked his body, and the tattered clothes that barely fit him clung to his body as he has grown within the past couple of days.
Tick, Tock, Tick,
A large man in a white dress shirt and tie, with long slacks sat on the other end of the table. With irritation on his face, as his mouth was moving but no words were coming out, as if he was muted.
Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock,
"BOOM" the sound of a heavy hand slammed down on the table, startling the young child to looking its direction.
"! Now, kid let me go over this again, where is your mother or father? or a place to call? Or do you know where you live?" the man said with a husky Chi accent, trying to get an answer from the little boy.
But the little kid looked back at him with no words and just turned back to looking at the clock.
WHERE IS HE, OÙ EST-IL? WHERE IS MY LITTLE AIDEN?' said, a little older lady with a stern face and soft eyes waddling in with her purse.
The man was about to rehash what he just did. But was stopped as the women came in and looked at Aiden. Before going to him with a big hug.
"And who might you be" the large man said, curious as to who this little woman was.
I am Mrs. Palpanini, Aiden Wells legal Guardian, and I have come for him" she said, before turning around and looking at Aiden.
"You Monsieur, I have been looking for you... Are you alright? Are you hurt anywhere? She said, checking for bruises.
"Ma'am are you telling me that this… little boy is under your care." waving his arm in little Aiden's direction.
"Wee, and why do you care? Mrs. Palpanini, looking at the man, with utter disgust.
But what was once a memory from my past now came to fruition, unexpectedly as my second class moved like a movie reel in my eyes. Moving to the next one.
The ticking of the wall clock jolted the memory from my subconsciousness. Unexpectedly as tears streamed down my face.
"BBBBBBBIIIIINNGG' I stood there in the memory as the bell rang for the next class, as the day so far was already draining.
Mr. Wells, are you alright? Mr. Mason said, look at me from his desk. I wiped my face clear of all the tears before nodding and heading out the door.
I walked out the door Jessica was waiting for me on the side, with a big smile
"Hey wha.." she said, before she was cut off.
"We're not doing that study shit, are we..if we are I'm not going" 'I said
"Ah No... that not what I wanted to ask you about" she said
"Then what, I have a class" I said, walking around a group of people walking to my next class. Before Jessica ran her short but in front of me.
"Listen to me, Aiden, Angela and I just want to know what are you doing this weekend? She said holding out her arms stopping me in-place.
"Nothing what you want? I said, pushing her arms out of my way before walking again, as she caught up, she pulled my arm.
"We just want to know if you want to hang out in the woods, Eric is DJing, and we go to tents and other stuff as well." she said
"A Brotha like me doesn't go in the woods, in the middle of the night, that's how you get killed." I said clearly not with it. "And I don't know y'all that well anyways, soo"
"So, get to know us, we aren't that bad, just get to know us" she said.
"Yeah, get to know us," Angela said, out of nowhere.
"Hi Angela," Jessica said, hugging the tall girl on the weights. Angela hugged back as I nodded in her direction.
She smiled at us before Jessica reiterated What she wanted to say.
"Look, you don't have to come if you don't want to, most of us just go to hang out and dance. Cuz there's nothing better to do in this shitty-Ass town anyway" Jessica said.
"Jessica" Angela said, reprimanding her as she crossed her two pointer fingers together.
"BBBBBBBIIIIINNGG" the bell sounds stating it was almost the end of the transfer period.
"Just think about it ok, it's not like you have anything better to do" Jessica said, before heading off to her class.
Angela didn't say anything but squeeze my arm before walking away in a different direction.
I stood there and huffed a sigh out I took a minute to recollect myself before walking a couple of feet before heading into class, right as the bell ring for the last time.
