Rose PoV
As we walked the streets of Mizu no Kin's capital, I took comfort in Saffron's hand holding mine. He looked around, trying to locate a market or store that sold butter.
"Summoning guardian angels," I mused aloud, my voice barely audible over the wind. "It feels like such a daunting task, yet vital."
Saffron stopped and glanced at me. "You heard Halim. It's about trust and patience. Plus, even if you can't call upon Sparkly, as long as I can summon Bosenmori, we should both be fine."
I smiled. "Yeah..."
He patted my head, staring down at my eyes, his gaze as steady as ever. "Don't stress about it, Rose. We will protect your nephews and our little girl. And I will protect you."
My cheeks warmed up against the cool ocean breeze blowing in from the east.
Saffron tugged on my hand. "Now, let's go look for that butter. I promised you some buttered and salted crab and that's what you're getting."
