I smiled as we walked together toward the pier, the moonlight casting a serene glow over everything it touched. It was one of those nights where the sky seemed to blend seamlessly into the sea, the stars reflected on the gentle waves like scattered jewels. Beside me, Rose was snuggling Anis's new octopus plushie as if it were our little girl herself. Knowing her, she was probably imagining Anis playing with it.
As we reached the end of the pier, I paused, taking a moment to drink in the view.
Rose turned to me, her eyes bright with the same wonder that had drawn me to her from the start. Her smile was radiant, and I couldn't resist the urge to draw her closer.
"Ready to head back?" I asked, my voice carrying both the excitement of the flight and the comfort of returning to our little island refuge.
She nodded, her trust in me unwavering as always. "Ready," she replied, her voice soft yet full of anticipation.
