Charles White reached out and picked up her cell phone, was about to answer the call, when he locked eyes with a pair of big, limpid eyes.
Zoe Yale was drowsily opening her eyes, bewilderedly staring at the cell phone in his hand.
Her brows were tightly furrowed, and she pouted slightly, as though complaining that the ringtone had disturbed her sleep.
"You're awake?" Charles White set the cell phone aside, sat by the bed, and helped her sit up.
He placed his hand on her forehead, saw that her fever had subsided, then his facial expression softened.
"Do you still feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
"...Thirsty." Zoe Yale opened her mouth, her voice raspy from the aftermath of a high fever.
