Anna Ainsworth and Jeremy Thompson had just come out from the restroom when they exited the shopping mall gate and noticed that a crowd had gathered in the parking lot.
"What's going on? What happened?" Anna glanced toward the crowd.
"Shall we go over and check?" Jeremy raised an eyebrow, already sensing something, and from his height, he could see Lannie Ward among the crowd.
"Sure, we've still got time," Anna replied nonchalantly, though she was thinking that waiting for Xaviar would also take some time, and watching the commotion was one way to pass it.
Before Jeremy and Anna could respond, an ambulance entered, singing its siren song and clearing a path through the crowd.
It was only then that Anna noticed Emma Osborne lying on the ground, her hands on her lower abdomen, her complexion as pale as paper, seemingly in extreme pain.
