"Heh, I've given you nowhere near as much as you've given me," Mrs. Kiara retorted, not one to be outdone.
"Even so, it doesn't compare to the 'profound' experience you've given me."
After a few sentences of probing, they had both fully grasped each other's limits, followed by a fierce battle of gazes.
Seen through the eyes of the onlooking Edward Farmbright, this turned into...
"Heartbreaking! When did you two become so close!" he exclaimed.
This was unfair! He was the Eldest Brother, after all. Did they have to ignore him so completely?
"Idiot," Kiara and James Norris said in unison, then glanced at each other tacitly, reverting back to their normal selves and discussing the experiment.
"I think this area could be improved like this..."
"Mmm, that makes sense," Norris agreed.
Watching the two maintain a seemingly calm exterior while sensing the undercurrents beneath, Edward couldn't help but sigh at their obvious rapport.
