At 7:30 AM, Ethan Herd got out of bed, preparing to head to the company. After freshening up, he saw that Scarlett Glenn was still sleeping soundly. He walked to the bedside, brushed the hair from her face, and left a kiss on her cheek, saying, "Wife, I'm off to the company. In half an hour, I'll have fifth sister-in-law call you for breakfast. Remember, you must come downstairs for breakfast, okay?"
Scarlett Glenn, groggy with sleep, gave a noncommittal grunt in response.
Ethan Herd squatted by the bed and watched her for another five minutes, then tucked the blanket around her and kissed her lips before he could bear to leave.
The departure of Nathaniel York made them realize all the more that they must cherish their time together; every day, Ethan felt the urge to look at her a little longer.
Half an hour passed, and fifth sister-in-law came upstairs to call Scarlett Glenn, taking a full 20 minutes just to wake her.
