It wasn't a secret that this Paragon had been running around the void, scheming and planning to deal permanent damage to their enemies. And he came through. He did figure out something. He blew up the womb that's responsible for the Void Creatures' reproduction.
Its destruction was confirmed; Cedric had no reason to lie to them. The reaction of the void also confirms this.
