Chapter 25 - Doom appears

"You will marry me?" A relief of tear dripped down his cocoa orbs.

Did he heart it right? It was hard to assumed it was just not an illusion.

Fearing it was just an unrequited truth.

"I'll marry you." She assured nodding.

She smiled, cupping his cheek.

"You feel like a dream." He breathed out.

Neva chuckled and cradled his head with both her hands, leaning in she kissed his forehead.

"I love you." He embraced her.

Tightening his hold, embracing the quivering of their heart at the beautiful sensations of love and adoration tingling each inches of their skin.

"I'm forever grateful." She murmered.

Drawing apart, she brushesmd away his tears and offered her hand.

He smiled, and looking down he gladly adorned the diamond ring with his Angel.

---

The special Christmas eve had come to it's Nightfall.

"I still can't process it!" Exclaimed Emma. She was snuggled up beneath Neva's kotatsu table, and so was Neva accross her.

"Me too," Neva wondered into chasm.

Concluding their sweet dinner the girls were resting, while the boys offered to do the clean up.

Neva denied help from the guest, but Rhett was Zedd's Boss was first.

"So you'll officially be a bride at March?" Emma probed.

Neva had her elbow layed down on the surface of the hot table, her palms cradling her cheeks.

"Why do you think that?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Because you turn nineteen on March first?" Emma reasoned, mirroring her posture.

"We are pacing alike a peregrine falcon." Neva chuckled, shaking her head.

Emma sighed. "I'm ecstatic about it, yet it's just bizarre. I mean darling, you've been together for only a month!" Emma grimaced.

Neva pursed her lips empty of words.

"Babe let's go." Hindering their conversation Zedd intervened.

The girls glanced up at him walking to the table.

"Now?" Emma queries, unwilling lacing her tone. "Relax a while Zedd. I'll get us some fruits." Neva stood up and started towards the kitchen.

"Umm. I think we should go," Zedd hinted at his girlfriend for aid.

"You can leave after trying the fruits." Neva persisted.

"Why in a hurry babe? Come here." Emma did not acknowledge Zedd's bellow.

He slid inside the blanket next to her.

"You look scraped, what's wrong?" Emma queried, sensing him fugitive.

"I think my Boss hates me. We should go before I'm fired." He stared at the wall adorned in pretty wreath and accross him.

Emma amazed swiftly turned his head towards her.

Seeing his ghastly face, she laughed earning her a glare.

On the alternative space, Neva scurried towards the kitchen.

Rhett was had her daisies printed apron tied around his waist, washing the last of dishes.

"You're not done yet?" Neva asked, processing past him and directly opening the refrigerator.

Placing the last platter on the drying rack, he quickly backhugged Neva.

"I'm done angel. I'm sleepy." He nuzzled his head in her nap, then settled on the crook of her neck.

Neva stretched her forehand behind and patted his head.

"It's only nine Rhett. And we still have guests." She said, tilting her head to kiss his temple.

"I don't care. I just want to be under the covers... with you beneath me." He leaned near her ear amd softly bit down on her earlobe, whispering in his raspy, mellifluous voice.

Neva's pores rushed in a wintry air, raising shivers despite being in the warm interior of her dwelling.

"Rhett," she pushed herself off of him,

—wending her way towards the cabinet.

"We have people in the living room waiting for fruits."

Rhett chuckled. "Let me give you a hand."

---

Frost upon a windowpane, the feathery falling snow unveiled the freezing cold nature.

Here and now Neva and Rhett were tangled up, a quilt cozying them up on a couch near the crackling fire.

The warm hearth of her home comforting the hearts. The miracles of Christmas and the beauty of december, sparked in the lovers hearts.

Perhaps a life was created to live in these fairy tale like realities.

A serene soul, hurling thoughts, flaming flesh.

They were in love, wishing to build a heaven with love and dreams.

"Did you like my present?" Rhett started.

"The pendant or the ring?" The night getting darker, Neva bearing heavy eyelids queries.

"Both. I'm sorry the proposal wasn't as lavish." He mumbled.

Neva peered up at him. "It was out of the blue, but I wouldn't have it any other way." She answered resting her head on his comforting chest.

"I just want your all, for forever." He ushered.

He lifted her chin and collided their lips in a swim of blissful dreams.

---

Saddening hearts, Christmas was over in a span of blinking eyes. Nevertheless, the joy the day left behind was to treasure for the forthcoming four seasons.

Until, fate decided to reconcile with such a merry occasion once more.

Neva was alone in her abode. Rhett was gone for about an hour, because he had leave since an emergency occured in the car maintenance store.

It was a pain to manage it when he was away for his main job, but he said his employees were honest and maintained it well. And that it was a good money.

Neva scrambled to get the door, for the unpleasant ringing of her doorbell continued resonating round the apartment.

She didn't mind to check through the peephole and opened the door.

Their eyes fastened.

Hisheart away...

His breath away...

"Rhett?" For a moment, twinkled delight in her cocoa eyes. "Did you forget the passcode?" She urged once more, frowning, gazing up at him confusingly.

He imagined countless scenes of how she would perceive him. Countless times he illusioned different responses.

Nonetheless, her first words striked great conflicts in him.

He never could have read the pages to flip this way.

Neva sensing unfamiliarity frowned deeper.

"Is something wrong?" Neva asked, scanning his face for any harm.

Her gaze then instantly dulled. Rhett's hair was longer, tied up in a man bun, different than when he had left the apartment.

His outfit in contrast to what he wore.

And his voice, it was slightly different too.

"Neva," He whispered. Almost in disbelief that she was before him.

The cold winter, swirling wind blowing hovered over the darkened surround. But he winced instead at this twisting heartstrings.

The blood thrashing, blaring, surging ocean in a thunderstorm.

She was a heaven incarnate.

And he stood before her. Praying; it should not be one of his dream.

"Yeah?" She creased her brows.

He didn't say nothing. He was just taking it all in.

"What's wrong Rhett?"

But why does she keep calling him that name?

"I'm Ishmael." He said.

And a confused Neva just stood there unmoving. "What who?"

Did Rhett ever mention a sibling?

But as she studied him carefullyow that she gathered her senses; there was definitely something offshore about him.

Rhett didn't feel like it. He felt so wrong.

Then again. How did he know her name?

"Do I know you Mr.? Have we ever met before?" Neva probed, pulling him out of his trance.

Ishmael swallowed. Why was she behaving so foreign with him?

"Neva. It's me. Yours, Ishmael."

His heart beating in a rhythm, creeping the evil in him out.

"Mine?" Neva tilted her head, deeply confused.

Then she suddenly rushed in.

The door was still wide open.

The the lonely man in evening suit standing ouysude her door in the frosty weather.

Neva got her cellphone from the couch and dialed his number.

After two rings he picked up.

"Angel?" Rhett's familiar voice reverbed from the other end of the call. And Neva felt a sinking feeling, her throat running dry seeing through a foreboding turning scene.

She glanced at the tall man standing at her door.

"Rhett, where are you?" She asked timidly.

"At the store. Is everything alright?" Rhett inquired, worry tinted in his tone.

"No, someone's at the door." She looked away finding him staring at her.

"Please come fast." She regretted not closing the door.

"Who? Is the door locked? Stay inside I'm coming." He said, and Neva could make out him shuffling with something, following clinking of a metal I'm the ground.

"It's crazy. The door is open and the man looks like you." Shivers ran dow her spine.

She waited for him to say something that would reassure he was not any danger. But he kept awfully quiet.

"Are you there? I said he looks like you."

"Hear me Neva, do not engage with him. Get inside the bedroom. There's a dagger in the left drawer by the bed. Protect yourself."

All Neva could make out was he sounded scared before the line cut.
