Special operations require many things to support—intelligence, equipment, personnel, targeted training, etc., but there is one thing that is indispensable yet often overlooked.

That is imagination.

Unlike conventional combat, special operations emphasize "victory through surprise." Disguised attacks, stealthy infiltration, airborne strikes, kidnapping and assassination… Only by breaking free from the constraints of regular tactics and conventional thinking can one achieve unexpected effects and, with a small but elite force, obtain results unattainable by tens of thousands of regular troops.

In other words, boundless imagination—this quality, not very popular in military academies and regular troops, is one of the essential skills for special operations, as well as for the guardians prepared against them.
