Clutching his collar tightly, pressing down on his nearly exploding heart, feeling the beating that proved he was still alive, Marseille kept repeating this sentence in his mind.

He was acutely aware of what his actions meant. If the previous two times could be justified as reluctant measures or acts of self-preservation forced by circumstances, this time it was an undeniable act of treason.

Deliberately avoiding surveillance, sneaking into the blocked area without proper clearance, intending to make contact with a terrorist organization, and even disrupting the capture operation, trying to shield terrorists—any one of these actions alone was enough to put him on the scaffold. If all the charges were proven... he believed the executioner, granted special rights, would be very willing to try out the latest execution methods on Marseille's entire family, determining through practical application which method enabled the slowest and most painful death process.
