Chapter 42 - Chapter 42

I decided to try to reason with the master, hoping to find out what their motivations were and why they were supporting Arachne. As I approached them, my spirit animal, a majestic black dragon, emerged from my body and stood by my side.

The master eyed the dragon warily, but didn't back down. "You think you can defeat me, Riven?" they sneered. "I've been training Arachne for years, and together, we're unstoppable."

I stood firm, my dragon by my side. Thane, Lunaria, and Zarek stood with me, ready to defend our family and our land.

But despite our numerical advantage, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were outmatched. The master's power was unlike anything I had ever seen before, and Arachne's magic was still a force to be reckoned with.

The battle was intense, with both sides exchanging blows and counterattacks. My dragon breathed fire, striking Arachne and her master with waves of flames. Thane, Lunaria, and Zarek fought valiantly, but the master seemed to be absorbing their attacks, growing stronger with each passing moment.

I fought with all my might, but despite my best efforts, I couldn't gain the upper hand. The master was too powerful, and Arachne's magic was too strong.

In the end, it was just me standing against the two of them. My dragon lay wounded, and my family was either defeated or pinned down. I gritted my teeth, determined to keep fighting, but I knew it was a losing battle.

The master smiled, their eyes gleaming with triumph. "You're no match for me, Riven," they said, their voice dripping with contempt.

I didn't back down. I focused my will, channeling my power into a fierce determination to defeat my enemies.

With a newfound surge of energy, I launched a fresh attack. My movements were swift and deadly, my blows landing with precision and force. Arachne stumbled back, her eyes widening in shock, as I landed a critical hit.

But the master was a different story. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't seem to land a decisive blow. They absorbed or deflected every attack, their power growing stronger with each passing moment.

The battle raged on, with me fighting for my life and my freedom. Arachne was wounded, but she refused to give up. The master, however, seemed almost... amused.

"You're a formidable opponent, Riven", the master said, their voice dripping with condescension. "But you're no match for me."

I gritted my teeth, determination burning within me. I would not back down. I would not give up.

The master referred to me as "Riven", and I could sense a hint of curiosity in their voice.

I focused my attention on Arachne, determined to finish her off and reduce the number of enemies I was facing. With a swift and deadly strike, I landed a critical hit, and Arachne let out a pained cry as she stumbled backward.

The master watched with a mixture of interest and annoyance, but they didn't intervene. Instead, they seemed to be waiting for something, their eyes fixed intently on me.

With Arachne wounded and vulnerable, I saw an opportunity to end the battle quickly. I raised my hand, preparing to deliver the final blow...

But just as I was about to strike, the master spoke up, their voice dripping with malice.

"Don't be too hasty, Riven," they said. "Arachne may be wounded, but she's far from defeated. And you... you're just getting started."

Suddenly, Arachne's body began to glow with a dark, pulsating energy. I felt a surge of power emanating from her, and I realized that she was about to unleash a powerful attack...
