Chapter Eight
The next day.
Sofia Hamilton woke up groggily, feeling as if the doorbell was ringing.
One ding-dong after another, it was particularly annoying.
She tossed and turned, not wanting to answer the door at all.
Who would disturb someone's peaceful dream so early in the morning?
The doorbell kept ringing, and Arthur Baker's voice could faintly be heard outside.
"Sofia Hamilton?"
"Sofia Hamilton?"
Why did it sound so much like Arthur Baker's voice?
Wasn't he in New York?
Still in a daze, Sofia wondered about this, having stayed up until nearly dawn last night. She was severely lacking sleep now, and her mind was like mush, incapable of coherent thought. She responded weakly, "Hmm."
The next second, her cell phone began to ring as well.
She reached for her phone irritably, holding it to her ear without remembering to press 'answer,' "Hello?"
