She never expected him to follow her; the two stood a certain distance apart, their eyes meeting, the disappointment on his face so obvious, like the low rumble of a storm approaching on that stern visage.
Her legs felt as if they were filled with lead, too heavy to lift.
She could only stand there, watching as he approached with a stern look on his face.
With every step he took closer, her heart grew more tense.
Sofia Hamilton didn't know what she was anxious about. Was it because she had lied to him?
She felt like a child who had done something wrong, waiting for him to step forward and scold her for her mistakes.
Ryan Gregory's brows furrowed, he took a deep breath before forcing himself to speak calmly, "Didn't you say you were here to see Aurelia Wood?"
He truly hoped that what she said was true.
He wanted to believe her, even though he saw through her lies.
Yet, he still wanted to believe her.
