Chapter Nine
Her eyes inexplicably reddened, nearly bursting into tears.
The tears that spun in her eyes, the tears she desperately held back, made Ryan Gregory's heart ache even more.
He pulled her into his embrace, wrapping his arms tightly around her.
"Is it because of this that you want to run away again?"
He asked in a low voice, and even though she didn't respond, he already knew the answer.
There's a kind of responsibility known as being helpless.
The grievances she suffered at this moment, he vowed to one day return them all to her.
He tightened his arms, pressing her firmly against him, so tight as if he wished to completely merge her into his life—then he would never lose her again.
If he had come back a bit later, would he have lost her again?
How could this heartless woman think of slipping away quietly at this time?
The moment he returned, what greeted him was not her joy, not her emotion, but the sight of her with a suitcase, ready to leave.
