Chapter One
"How could Grandpa have had a sudden stroke?" Sofia Hamilton asked in confusion, but this question made Arthur Baker's heart seize up.
Because...
The things he said?
Or, was it that he didn't pull him up at the last moment? That he just left without a care?
Arthur Baker had no answer, and he had even less desire to make excuses for himself.
He remained silent, his eyebrows furrowed even more tightly.
He did have feelings for Grandpa.
All along, he had wanted his approval...
But no matter how hard he tried, putting in several times more effort than others, he never received a single word of affirmation from Grandpa.
It wasn't until later that he understood his constant excellence only made Grandpa feel threatened, so of course, he wouldn't be pleased...
After all, he wasn't really a child of the Baker Family.
He hung his head, his eyes becoming even darker.
His expression, as seen by Sofia Hamilton, looked a lot like distress and sorrow.
