He said, "Get some rest. Tomorrow, I'll have someone take you away."
He wasn't asking for her consent, nor was it the sweet talk of the past—he was sending her away?
It felt as though the kiss he had just given her was nothing more than a careless mistake.
Sofia Hamilton's mood plummeted, her thoughts falling into chaos.
He had already let go of her and turned away.
The door closed.
His footsteps grew more distant…
The atmosphere cooled down, and so did her heart, little by little.
Leaning against the wall, she suddenly felt its icy surface.
What was he thinking? She couldn't read him at all.
Throughout their time together, she could sense his care for her, but when it came time to take a step forward, he would retreat—even reverting to cold indifference.
