Owen Moreland zipped her down jacket all the way to the top and put on her hat, saying softly, "If you wish, you can stay cool under my shade for a lifetime."
"I don't want that," Amelia Clarke felt a sweet bubble well up in her chest due to Owen's words, but her mouth wasn't as sweet as her heart, "Everyone says that men are the least reliable. If I rely solely on you and one day you change your heart and won't let me stay cool anymore, who will I cry to? I'd rather grow into a big tree myself, so that if one day you can't shield me from the wind and rain, I can still live well on my own."
Owen Moreland gazed deeply at Amelia, his eyes unfathomable while surrounded by many people, yet his gaze was only on her.
After a long while, he extended his hand, embraced her, and without a word, walked her outside.
Amelia felt some changes in her heart when he was watching her, yet she didn't know what kind of changes they were.
