He got out of the shower and found Amelia Clarke sitting on the bed, holding a dark red brocade box in her hand.
"Why haven't you gone to sleep yet?" Owen Moreland frowned slightly, his tone somewhat reproachful.
"Would grandma be very happy if I gave her this ring tomorrow?" What Amelia Clarke held in her hand was the jade ring she had acquired at the charity auction.
Owen Moreland walked over, took the brocade box from her hands, helped her lie down, and then turned off the light.
The room's lights dimmed.
Amelia Clarke felt the bed beside her sink as Owen Moreland got under the covers and wrapped his arm around her, her arm passing beneath his armpit, hugging his broad and sturdy body.
"I only have two elective classes tomorrow afternoon; I want to skip them to accompany grandma. Is that okay, Teacher Moreland?"
"Go to sleep." Owen Moreland did not respond to her question, his large hand clasping the back of her head and tucking it in closer to him.
