"They're coming! They're coming! Prepare yourselves, ladies; make sure everything is ready. When the groom and his groomsmen arrive," Viola Harris's excited speech was cut short by a sudden shriek from outside.
Her words paused for a moment, and she quickly pressed her ear to the door, listening to the cheers rising and falling outside.
"What's happening? Why is everyone so excited?"
The atmosphere outside seemed to infect those inside; everyone's eyes were glued to the closed door, as if they could see through the barrier.
Colin Williams was also consumed by curiosity, "Let's open the door and see."
Her fingertips had just touched the lock button when the door suddenly resounded with knocks, bang, bang, bang—they startled her into a jump.
"Open the door," Ann Chapman's voice came through.
"Damn it! How did that bunch outside let someone through so easily? Useless!" Viola Harris was somewhat disappointed in her friends' defense.
