Grace Murdock gently patted Amanda Smith's back, silently comforting her, her expression also tinged with sorrow. Seeing Amanda so distressed made her heart ache.
Yet, she didn't know how to comfort her further.
Tim Morrison stood behind them and said, "Go rest for a bit."
His expression was weary and tired. His dark eyes lifted to glance at the closed door of the operating room, trembling slightly.
Then, as if stung, he turned his eyes away.
Inside, lay someone they deeply cared about. If something unpredictable happened to him, the impact on those alive would be immeasurable.
Grace Murdock helped Amanda Smith away from the operating room and found an empty private room to use as a resting area.
"Amanda, Tim and I are going out to buy you some food. Rest well for these three hours."
Amanda Smith sat on the hospital bed, hugging her knees. Her eyes were heavy. After Grace finished speaking, Amanda gave no response, uncertain if she had heard.
