Cars being slightly dented or scratched isn't actually a big deal in itself; the main issue is people's attitudes.
Sometimes, when two cars accidentally bump into each other, the people inside come out calmly, apologize, and chat. As they talk, they might even become friends. But then there are those who think they are pretty awesome. They get out of their cars all high and mighty and more often than not, it ends up in a fight.
Zeng Zhaokun was undoubtedly one of those who thought he was pretty awesome.
As for his son getting into a fight and being taken to the police station, Zeng just scolded him a couple of times after paying the fine and picking him up. Regarding the damaged car, he only thought of making a phone call when he heard that the damaged car was quite expensive.
