Nan Sichen and Qin Yin sat face to face, neither speaking nor picking up their chopsticks.
He couldn't remember how long it had been since the two of them sat face to face for a meal like this, but Qin Yin remembered it very clearly. She looked up at Nan Sichen and asked, "Do you remember when we last ate together like this?"
Nan Sichen pursed his lips and after a long time, he said, "It's been quite a while, I guess."
Qin Yin looked up at him with a smile and said, "The last time was March 26th, and now it's April 25th. A month has passed."
"A month." Nan Sichen repeated the timeframe silently, then finally smiled faintly. It turned out it had only been a month— he thought it had been much longer. But so many things had happened in that month, and it seemed their relationship had changed from being inseparable to its current awkward state.
He realized now how difficult the days without her had been, almost as if each day were a year. He had thought centuries passed.
