Chapter 16 - chapter 16- A man cave maybe I don't know

Man, those memories left me with a disgusting aftertaste for a long time. Those memories were so jumbled I couldn't figure out left from right. When I woke up, my head was spinning as I tried to find a grip to hold onto. The hard bed didn't help at stabilizing me. Then after 15 minutes I finally assembled the information in my brain.

Another memory hit my head after I had stabilized, a dragon with dark wings, bloodshot eyes and claws sharper than my own swords. It stood tall above the kingdom of Pancratius extending its wings towering like a massive goliath. I saw a small spark of light charging at the dragon which was snuffed after which a huge explosion rocked the dragon of its pedestal and me from this dream.

I had fainted twice. I heard chreshield calling me. Then I got a hard slap on my face which might have also scratched. I woke up "what, what happened?".

"Finally, you wake up, I tried so many times to wake you up but I didn't wanna wake up Joyle in the process so it was hard so I finally slapped you. Even splashing water on your ugly face didn't wake you up."

One I was definitely not ugly, two I was definitely not in my own body so maybe I was ugly. My senses were all screaming danger. A weird energy form was near us, when I went out of the room, I saw the only thing separating us from a horde of undead beings clawing and beating using weapons of sorts was a sheet of glass. It seemed ominous that they'd have found their way through the sewer system but marvelous that the sheet of glass wasn't even that thick yet was sturdy.

Woden entered the room from his bed looking as if he just woke up. He now fashioned a new attire of a brown T-shirt and a green pant with a bib above that with a fuck ton of pockets. As funny as he looked, I didn't mention that since blacksmiths tend to be either hyperactive or have anger issues.

"Yea that glass is my own creation, made from deep frying some sand and water. I had to wait five months to build up a lightning rod strong enough to withstand atmospheric lightning after which I had to concentrate all that power onto a single point and voila through some magical bullshit, this glass was created. Its easily moldable when some heat is applied but resists all of the other elements like a champ. I call it veritas."

(author's note: veritas is actually friggin 'truth' in Latin apparently plus it's foreshadowing).

I tried touching the glass and felt it had electrical energies flowing inside it but then it quickly changed to aquatic, then to mineral based. This was miraculous yet I couldn't understand it.

Then when I saw the undead, they seemed to be retreating back. Then light started shining through a window which I when I also realized that this cavern house was built on the upper end of the island. The island is actually slanted like a table missing two of its legs and we have a scenic view of the sea on the upper side.

It was windy too so Woden closed the windows tight. Then "here guys food is ready." And as he said that on the table appeared a variety of different food. My favorite 'chicken earthborn' with bread was also there and just like that all of us started to eat what was on our table. When I wished for some tea, it immediately bought me some in a cup.

"Yea my parents left this piece of cloth with me, took me some time to figure out its use but it has an infinite supply of food and anything else I need. As long as its small and can fit through the cloth's area. Like this hammer." He took out a piece of cloth and then put his hand in the cloth and tried searching and when he pulled out, it was a crowbar instead of a hammer.

"it doesn't work sometimes and gives me things I don't need so I smelt the extra items I don't use. I never understood how this cloth worked. Like if I tore it, it'd still work and when I try to rejoin it, it weaves itself back together."

Then suddenly I heard a big explosion above the surface.

"what's that about?" I asked to which he replied "that's probably the necromancer. He has been here as long as I have and has never left his palace. Every day at exactly 8am according to this clock I made an explosion revibrates across the entire kingdom. It's as if a fight is going on in there but I don't dare to even step out of here. The only time when I can go out is after 11 am till 4pm since the heat is unbearable at this time and the undead burn to ashes."

Something was tugging at the back of my memory but I didn't know what it was. Something I had faced long before similar to this situation but on a shorter scale. A weird battle which I fought in yet didn't win.

Then as we waited for time to pass, Woden kept talking with us while playing with the kids and he seemed to have an affinity for children and fun. I took a walk to check out the base. The forge was larger on the inside than it seemed and here larger is extremely extended. Like it could contain the entire base times 5 and for the most part of it was filled with what I'd say to be junk. Swords and hammers, shields and crossbows all different from the other, all unique in their own way filling up the room.

Then in the remaining part of the room, hung up on the walls were swords and shields that looked fancy as fuck but none of them piqued my interest. There were even morning stars and scythes hung up.

Then as I browsed through the plethora of weapons, I saw a small dagger. It was exquisitely made by basically a child and if the dwarves saw this, I can't imagine the lengths they'd go to obtain this guy. It was a 6-inch-long dagger with a single side being sharper than the other. It had a hue of blue with its edges being black.

Then woden came in and said "you can take it; I've made so many weapons till date but none of them have been used. I was actually just planning to dump them into the sea so they'd find their owner themselves but you can have that dagger. That's my 4th masterpiece which took me 5 days to build. I wanted a weapon capable of killing yet not being as heavy as these other weapons you see, so with the help of this guidebook explaining the metals and items I'd need, I forged it."

I took it and instantly knew who its owner was supposed to be, and it was definitely not me. I had a preference for dual swords anyway of which I found none. There were all single-handed swords and all of them were too heavy. Either they were heavy or this body was out of shape.

I picked up a simple sword with a sheathe and attached it to my waist. I finally had a reliable weapon. then as I headed out, I saw joyle playing with Arthold while chreshield was sipping something from a cup what I presumed was coffee. Woden then came from outside and said "guys its time to go outside and wander the castle. I've gone there like a million times and never found anything useful, maybe with other people my chances of escape are higher."

And so it was finally time to finish whatever was roaming these ruins.
