Obito found himself enveloped in what felt like never ending warmth. He had long forgotten what his grandmother's embraces felt like.
When he first took on Madara's identity he always wondered how his grandmother was doing for a long time until eventually he had completely forgotten about her.
If he had to guess, she likely died during the Uchiha massacre.
He himself had a hand in that massacre, it may even be possible that he had killed her himself and he never noticed because he was already brainwashed by Madara.
Because of this, he couldn't help but feel what felt like a never ending pit of guilt in his heart.
I truly was a monster.
"Was the nightmare that terrifying? Do you need to talk about it?"
Hearing the soft and calming tone with a hint of worry in his grandmother's voice, he was snapped out of his thoughts.
"No, it's alright. I don't remember anything anyway."
Obito scratched behind his head with one hand and chuckled to try and calm his grandmother's nerves.
"Are you sure? I'm always here if you need to talk about something that's bothering you."
"I know I know, but I swear I'm fine. One little nightmare won't mess me up."
Obito continued to reassure her and try and play off the fact that he's still unsure of what exactly is going on.
"You've been stressing over the academy haven't you? I've told you plenty of times that you'll do fine."
The academy?
Obito was bewildered. If he was correct, then that means he was around 6 years old and about to begin attending the academy.
The thought was in the back of his mind when he saw his room, his current appearance, and grandmother, but he dismissed it and was convinced this was some sort of dream or super powerful genjutsu like the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
But it was impossible for it to be the Infinite Tsukuyomi, for even after the jutsu was cast by Madara, he was not affected by it thanks to Black Zetsu possessing his body and on top of that he for sure had died to Kaguya's attack.
I've really gone back.
He almost thought this was too good to be true. Getting another chance like this seemed like a pipe dream, but that chance is here right in from of him.
So this what Rin meant when she said I still had something to do.
"Obito? Are you listening?"
Once again pulled out from his thoughts, he realized he had been spacing out.
"Sorry grandma, I think I might be stressing over it more than I thought."
Obito said with an apologetic look. He'll have to continue thinking about everything later.
"You are never honest are you?"
She said with a semi-frustrated tone.
After saying this, she then picked up Obito and begun carrying him back to his room.
Although he was taken aback after being picked up so suddenly, he didn't say anything since to his grandmother he was still a 6 year old boy despite being a 31 year old man mentally.
After they had both returned to his room, Obito's grandmother placed him into his bed and covered him up.
"I expect you to get enough sleep now. Tomorrow is a big day and you cannot be late."
Obito couldn't help but chuckle at that statement.
"Alright I get it, I'll make sure to wake up on time."
"You say that every time yet you still mange to sleep all the way into the afternoon."
With this they both shared a small laugh.
"Goodnight Obito."
Obito's grandmother switched off his lamp next to his bed and kissed his forehead and left the room.
She's still the same no matter what huh?
With this Obito gazed at the ceiling and put his thoughts into order.
He had been given this second chance and he was going to make sure he wasn't going to waste it.
Rin, thank you for giving me this chance. I promise no matter what I will not waste it.
A determined Obito held up his fist to the ceiling and made a vow. He was never going to back down on his words.
Never again.
