Chapter 15 - Chapter(15)

Episode(15): Boss Fight

SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(15)

I stepped through the door and was instantly filled with shock at the sight beyond my vision.

Trees, lush tall sky piercing trees and a lush forest as far as the eye could see.

What!?

No, getting shocked now was pointless. It was the same before and in this floor as well, a real world seemed to be simulated.

Glancing behind he noticed the door had vanished.

Hm, so that means I can't leave until I complete this floor.

The sky overhead was dark, the simulated time here seemed to be night and the sky was filled with countless shining jewels.

Brushing back his hair with a sigh, he realized there was no use panicking.

It's not like the door will return if I break down in tears.

Rather, the door vanished but his perception sensed no danger whatsoever.

Right, the forest was filled with enemies according to perception, but standing here I was safe.

The anomaly was easily discovered and I found that this clearing was like a safe zone.

As if, even if he walked around naked and taunted the enemies they would still not attack at all.

Still, those red eyes are annoying.

Thinking back to the first time he was teleported into the dungeon, those red eyes in the dark and almost dying. A surge of irritation sprung up in his heart.

Sigh!

Fortunately I got my revenge by slaughtering all those wolves before or I would have lost it.

At any rate, my perception is giving off a weird sensation when I sense beyond the stream.

More than likely, stepping out of the clearing and beyond the stream means starting the trial.

Taking note of the area, Nagisa loosened his limbs with some stretching.

Firstly, he stretched to ease the tension of the earlier fight and secondly it was to get used to the strength rise from leveling up just now.

At the same time I used perception to sense deep in the forest.

Hoh.

Deep in the forest, my senses caught a very powerful presence.

This wasn't just a bit stronger than the variant monster or the guardian, this was clearly several tens of levels above that.

Was it the boss?

It had to be.

If you told him it wasn't he would not believe it, then what monstrosity would be the boss.

It definitely feels powerful, but I should be able to take it.

What he was worried about were the many variant like wolf aura's surrounding the boss. These were monsters with an aura surpassing any wolf he had faced before.

If it was like this the fight could turn into a 1 vs many brawl which would definitely be bad.

Looking back to where he had entered, there was still no door.

Retreating after facing defeat and coming up with a plan wasn't feasible in this situation.

Then there was nothing to consider.

If fighting was the only option-

Then fight!

I was excited.

A fight should be fought with everything on the line just like this!

There was no need to be a coward!

His muscles tensed for battle and the sound of the sword leaving the sheath sharply sounded through the silence.

[Tactics or whatever, I don't need it]

Just crush the enemy!

Splash!* Splash!* Splash!*

My feet kicked up water as I ran through the stream, yet the water did not dull my speed in the slightest.

[How impatient]

An ice drill was severed in two as Nagisa sped up easily warding off the attack of one of the several wolves.

Slicing attacks one after the other, Nagisa bent his knees before another volley could follow and soared into the air.

The moment he landed ashore, his body became a blur appearing behind the ice wolf.

Pfft!

Blood and flesh exploded as the ice wolf became several pieces of minced meat in seconds.

That should be enough of an entrance, right?

[What's the holdup mutts? If we're gonna do it lets get it done quickly!]

Sword over his shoulder, Nagisa let out a mad laughter.

Wolves, all as tall as his chest growled ferociously and rushed at him from differing locations.

Hmpmh!

With a snort, I slowly took a stance. But, as I slowly eased into that stance, my body blurred.

Three times, each time his body blurred a transparent phantom like figure resembling the man himself rushed out meeting the incoming opponents.

By the time I fully sheathed my sword, all three wolves had been turned into corpses and the phantoms vanished into wisps of lights.

But he was far from over.

With the click of the sword being sheath, Nagisa locked onto all the surrounding wolves and drew his leg back releasing a breath.

Then in the next moment he vanished, weaving through the crowd and taking wolf heads with every swing.

Even so the wolves kept coming.

The wolf boss's skill? Or perhaps it was just the mechanism of this floor that all monsters attacked without fear.

It didn't matter either way.

All he had to do was slaughter them all.

With a grin of his own, Nagisa drew his blade and spilt purple blood.

Avoiding the high lunge of a wolf, I turned and threw a punch smashing it into the distance.

A crash echoed, and turning my focus away I flashed using the tree as a foothold and shot towards a hell spawn piercing the sword through its chest and pinning it to the tree.

The sword was firmly pinned and would use some force to pull out, however sensing an attack from behind, Nagisa crouched low.

Sure enough, a claw passed over head. He turned and threw a punch with a heavy bang landing in the wolf's stomach as it curled over.

Then turning back to his sword, he drew it in a full circle with a pivot and sliced it in half.

After that the bloodbath continued.

Just as the corpses had piled up to form a mountain, a powerful aura could be sensed darting out of the forest.

Found you!

Shu!

My figure became even more of a blur as I shot in the direction the wolf general was coming from.

The reason I didn't immediately go after the boss was that I had no idea where exactly it was.

He knew it was deep in the forest, but its exact location was hard to pinpoint. Who knew if that bastard and its minions were planning an ambush?

So, he waited patiently.

As long as I can tell the location where a wolf general is coming from I can use my perception to get an understanding of the situation.

And when the wolf general broke its concealment, Nagisa had gotten a clear sense.

Those bastards were definitely gathered together, but it was an ambush. More of a king arrogantly waiting for the fool that challenged his reign.

With so much pride, how could I not meet it head on?

The wolf general only felt a gust of wind overhead as the streak of light made its way to the wolf king.

On the throne made from the bones of its numerous challengers, the wolf king sat arrogantly as the other wolf generals sensed his presence and tried to block his path.

But, Nagisa was too fast.

[Die!]

*Kiiiin!*

The sword produced a high pitched sound as it met an invisible barrier completely blocking the attack.

A shield?

Was it magic?

I jumped back thinking I underestimated this wolf boss a bit too much.

Still, the wolf boss didn't even follow my retreat as if to say I was beneath it.

Cocky fellow!

At least, the wolf king didn't seem to have any desire to fight for now. Rather it seemed more the type to leave it all to its minions.

Fine, I'll just take out your forces one by one and we'll see how confident you are later.

Too bad, I haven't received a single level up notification since entering this place.

This must mean that kills made in the boss room did not register until the challengers victory.

Swish!

Sensing an attack, Nagisa crouched low and a claw passed overhead.

The wolf didn't give up after failing, it immediately shifted it's and attacked again. Nagisa was also prepared and jumped back grabbing the branch of a tree and swinging himself up.

On the ground, the wolf's claws landed with a deafening explosive sound leaving craters.

It howled realizing it missed and charged at Nagisa. And yet, it was like this human had springs in his feet.

Every attack was dodged easily.

Smirking, Nagisa leapt on its head as it missed another attack and with a tap used the wolf's head as a spring board soaring through the air.

He landed with a roll and glanced around, the other generals weren't acting yet so it seemed he could finish this before they stepped in.

Charging back with unstoppable momentum, the wolf general launched heavy attack after attack with the battle field shifting through the forest its terrifying strength leaving devastating destruction.

Yet, Nagisa who decided to stop evading countered each attack and carved bloody wines in its flesh each time.

Every time the wolf attacked Nagisa used the momentum to counter.

It swung its claw at me, however sliding under the attack I slashed its shoulder, behind its knee and a bone deep cut in its back.

The wolf howled as if to psych itself up.

But, I'm not gonna keep playing. The wolf generals were probably thinking they could step in at any time and they would just watch a show, hah! Wrong! So very Wrong!

The wolf turned ignoring the pain and using its uninjured arm, but Nagisa anticipated its movements and sliced through its arm sending it flying.

Then with a jump and a rotation, he severed the wolf's head in one go.

Killing intent exploded at my back.

In an instant, I avoided the claws coming over my shoulder and slicing through the air carving through flesh then vanished with a tap of my fight.

None of the generals could keep up with the speed.

The wolf didn't even have time to check its wound before a heel slammed down on its skull nearly shattering bone from the force.

The wolf wobbled, but it was strong and even before full recovering from the dizziness it grabbed Nagisa's leg before he could retract it and slammed him to the floor.

Damn!

I felt my internal organs shake. Luckily I covered my head or I would have lost consciousness.

Still, he needed some time before the stiffness of his body from his shaking organs vanished.

Shaking its head, the wolf general grabbed Nagisa by the throat and lifted him as if to say it could crush his neck.

Instinctively, Nagisa's hand move and plunged through its eye socket spurting blood everywhere.

It was a mess.

The wolf had no choice to let go, and upon landing Nagisa didn't even bother waiting for recovery and instead closed the distance to finish the job.

Unfortunately I was blocked into retreating by a werewolf covered in flames.

Not just the flame covered wolf, other wolf generals joined in the attack sending out attacks relentlessly one after the other.

Tch!

Weaving through the attacks wit acrobatic movement and dance like steps, not one hit him.

But, another wolf engaged him in a close quarters fight attacking him while he had to dodge the magic attacks at the same time.

Annoying!

Before he could focus on ending the wolf before him, its claws lit up and it swung it. Instinctively Nagisa leaned back just barely avoiding the curved blade of light that shot through the air.

Damn!

Did it compress mana into its claws and shoot it out like a blade?

I avoided the attacks and struck away the wolf, but I was interrupted once more when I closed into finish it off.

Boom!

Sparks of electricity danced before my eyes.
