"Do you think I'm being too much?" she asked, like a lost child.
"Not at all," he comforted her. "She's the mistress, and you're his wife. What's wrong with a wife confronting the mistress? Nothing at all."
She didn't reply, and he wasn't sure if she took in what he had said.
"Perhaps he has his own struggles," Shen Yuzhe didn't pry further into their affairs.
He was just a family doctor, committed to his patient's welfare; doing his job was what mattered.
As for everything else, it wasn't his place to interfere.
"I believe, and I know, that he loves me," she wasn't foolish. She could feel it, so there was no need for him to say more.
"So, what's happening between you two then?"
"What if one day you got a girlfriend, and you saw her with someone who liked her, and when you went to pull her away, she yelled at you? How would you feel?"
How would he feel? A natural breakup, of course. He wouldn't demean himself; she had gone that far, what else could he do or think?
